How I Keep Playa Updates Accurate

Local plans change.I work to keep Ask Playa helpful, reliable and up to date.

  • ResearchedI check original sources whenever possible.
  • Last CheckedTells you when information was most recently reviewed.
  • IndependentUnbiased and free. No paid promotions in my guides.

How It Works

A quick look at how I find, review and keep information current.

Where My Information Comes From

I use official organizers and venues, business announcements, government and tourism info, public listings and local tips.

Whenever possible, I go directly to the original source.

That includes event organizers, venue websites, business announcements, local government and tourism information, public event listings, and information shared by local businesses and residents. Information from other sources is reviewed before I treat it as reliable.

What “Last Checked” Means

The Last Checked date tells you when the information was most recently reviewed. It doesn't guarantee that nothing has changed since then.

I pay particular attention to event dates, start times, locations, admission details and offer expiration dates.

How I Handle Changes

A band changes its start time. A happy hour ends. A market gets canceled because of rain. That's life in Playa!

One-time events may need checking close to their date. Weekly entertainment, happy hours and resident discounts need ongoing attention.

When I discover a meaningful change, I check the supporting information before updating the listing, and I work to correct or remove outdated information as quickly as possible.

I don't assume a recurring event is still happening just because it happened last week.

Independent Information You Can Trust

Ask Playa is a free and independent resource. Businesses cannot pay to influence factual answers, verification status or editorial recommendations. Any paid promotions are kept clearly separate from independent information.

A Personal Note 💙

Ask Playa is a personal passion project. I created it in my spare time because I love living in Playa del Carmen and wanted to make everyday life here a little easier for English speakers.

It's just me behind the scenes—not a big team—researching, checking information and keeping things up to date as best I can. I genuinely enjoy helping people find reliable information.

If Ask Playa has helped you and you'd like to support the time and care that goes into it, you're welcome to buy me a drink. Absolutely no pressure—Ask Playa is free for everyone, and that's how I intend to keep it.

Help Me Keep Playa Current

Know about a canceled event, changed schedule, expired discount or closed business? I'd love to hear about it! I review submitted information before making factual changes.

One last tip: Even with regular checking, last-minute changes happen. For anything time-sensitive, confirm with the organizer or venue before heading out.
