Quick Answer

An illustrated golf bag with clubs, a golf ball on a tee and a hibiscus flowerPlaya has two 18-hole courses inside its own neighborhoods: Gran Coyote in Corasol and Hard Rock Golf Club in Playacar. El Camaleón is right next door at Mayakoba. Iberostar Playa Paraíso and Vidanta are north of town, and Puerto Aventuras (9 holes) is to the south.

You don't need a hotel stay to play most of them. The official public green fees we checked for the 18-hole courses run from about US$219 (afternoon) to US$299 (morning), depending on the date, tee time and season.

Colibrí Property, a trusted local real-estate company, reports lower local or resident rates at several courses. Those rates aren't published by the courses, so ask for the local rate when you book, and ask which residency documents they accept.

The Simple Rule

Book directly with the course, ask for the local rate, and ask which ID they accept.

Where Residents Can Play

Three courses are on the Explore Playa map. The other three are a short drive away and aren't on the map yet.

Gran Coyote Golf
Corasol, Playa del Carmen. 18 holes, par 71. Open to the public: book online. See it on the map
Hard Rock Golf Club Riviera Maya
Playacar Fase II, Playa del Carmen. 18 holes, par 72. Open to the public: book by phone. See it on the map
El Camaleón at Mayakoba
Mayakoba, next to Xcalacoco. 18 holes, par 72. Open to the public; no hotel stay needed. See it on the map
Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club
Playa Paraíso, north of Playa. 18 holes, par 72. Open to the public (it publishes a public rate).
Vidanta Riviera Maya (Nicklaus course)
Vidanta resort, north of Playa. 18 holes, par 54 (all par 3s). Not confirmed for players who aren't guests.
Puerto Aventuras Golf & Racquet Club
Puerto Aventuras, south of Playa. 9 holes, par 36. Open to the public: book online, pay at the club.

Public vs. Resort-Guest Access

Most courses here sit inside resorts or residential developments, but that doesn't mean they're only for hotel guests. Gran Coyote and Puerto Aventuras sell public tee times online, and Mayakoba says a stay isn't required to book a tee time at El Camaleón.

Some courses publish hotel-guest rates that are lower than their public rates (Iberostar and Mayakoba both do). Those prices are only for people staying at those hotels.

Several courses are inside gated communities, including Playacar, Corasol and Puerto Aventuras. When you book, ask the course which entrance to use and what to show at the gate.

Public access doesn't guarantee a tee time on a given day. Book ahead, especially in high season.

Official Green Fees

These are Official Course Rates: prices published by the course or its booking system. We checked them on Oct 16, 2026. Prices change by date, tee time and season, so check the course's booking page for the day you want to play.

Reported Local Rates & Promotions

These are Colibrí-Reported Local Rates. They come from the Paradise Golf Guide by Colibrí Property, a trusted local real-estate company in Playa del Carmen. The courses don't publish these rates, and the guide is undated, so treat them as approximate and subject to change.

For example, Colibrí Property reports an afternoon resident rate of approximately US$88 at Iberostar. Rates, availability and accepted residency documents should be confirmed directly with Iberostar before booking. Each course's contacts are in Booking & Contacts.

Iberostar Playa Paraíso
Resident rate of about US$119 in the morning and about US$88 in the afternoon, with food and drinks included.
Vidanta Riviera Maya
Local resident rate of about US$48, and 2-for-1 promotions on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Hard Rock Golf Club
“2x1 locals for $1,900 MXN” (the guide doesn't say whether that's per golfer or for two players), and 50-round packages from about US$2,999.
El Camaleón
Standard green fee of US$329, with discounts for local residents with ID.

Reported, not guaranteed

Promotions like 2-for-1 days can change or end without notice. Ask the course whether the offer is running, the exact price, whether it's per golfer or per group, and which days and tee times it covers.

Memberships

If you play often, a membership or multi-round package can work out better than paying per round.

Gran Coyote
Colibrí-reported: Full Membership (10 years): US$21,000 plus US$350 a month. Members Path (2-year trial): US$5,000 plus US$350 a month. Seasonal (5 years, 6 months' use a year): US$13,000 plus US$400 a month. The monthly fee includes all green fees. You don't need to live in Corasol, and coverage includes your spouse, children under 28 and parents, plus beach access and the racquet club. Official: Gran Coyote's own site lists the benefits (unlimited golf with a GPS cart, practice areas, a par-3 practice course, the clubhouse and a members' beach area) but not the prices.
Puerto Aventuras
Official (club membership sheet): Sports Club (golf, padel, tennis and pickleball, with green fees included when you reserve): MX$22,000 a year individual or MX$28,000 family; six months MX$16,000 or MX$18,000. Golf guest pass MX$600. Prices valid from January 2026.
Hard Rock
Colibrí-reported: 50-round packages from about US$2,999.
El Camaleón
Colibrí-reported: no traditional long-term memberships; you pay as you play.

Puerto Aventuras: Main Course vs. Golf Park

Puerto Aventuras has two separate golf areas, and they're priced differently.

The main course has 9 holes, par 36, and an 18-hole round plays it twice. On Oct 17, 2026, its booking page showed 18 holes for MX$2,000 in the morning and MX$1,200 in the afternoon. Walking is allowed.

The Golf Park is a separate area with a par-3 pitch & putt, footgolf, a driving range and a snack bar, open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. On the same date the par-3 was MX$600, footgolf MX$600, and a bucket of range balls MX$150–200.

Puerto Aventuras residents can get a discount by sending their PA Passport Colonos to golf@puertoaventuras.com.mx for verification. That discount is only for eligible Puerto Aventuras residents, not for Playa del Carmen or Quintana Roo residents in general. The discount amount isn't published.

Colibrí Property reports day rates of about US$30–60, depending on time and residency. Ask the club which rates that covers.

Which Residency Documents Count?

Courses don't all accept the same proof of residency, and most don't publish which documents qualify. These are different things, and one may count where another doesn't:

  • A Quintana Roo INE (Mexican voter ID)
  • A temporary residency card
  • A permanent residency card
  • A local proof of address
  • Mexican nationality
  • A development's own residents' pass, such as Puerto Aventuras's PA Passport Colonos
  • A golf club membership

Ask the course which residency documents are accepted

The only resident discount with published rules is Puerto Aventuras's, for its own residents with the PA Passport Colonos. Colibrí Property reports local rates at Iberostar, Vidanta, Hard Rock and El Camaleón ("local residents with ID" at El Camaleón), but no course publishes which IDs count. Bring the documents you have, and ask before you pay.

How to Get a Local Rate

Ask by name
When you book, ask for the local or resident rate: “¿Tienen tarifa para residentes?” — “Do you have a resident rate?”
Book directly
Booking sites aimed at visitors rarely show local rates. Call, email or message the course itself.
Bring your ID
Ask which document they accept, and bring it on the day.
Play later
Afternoon (twilight) tee times are usually cheaper at every course we checked.
Ask about packages
Ask about multi-round packages, memberships and weekday promotions if you play often.
Check what's included
Ask whether the price includes the cart, food and drinks, and taxes, and whether it's per golfer or per group.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play golf in Playa if I'm not staying at a resort?

Yes at Gran Coyote, Hard Rock, El Camaleón, Iberostar Playa Paraíso and Puerto Aventuras. Vidanta hasn't confirmed whether non-guests can book, so ask its Pro Shop.

Is there a resident discount for golf in Playa del Carmen?

The only resident discount with published rules is in Puerto Aventuras, for its own residents with the PA Passport Colonos. Colibrí Property reports local or resident rates at Iberostar, Vidanta, Hard Rock and El Camaleón; those are approximate and subject to change, so ask the course when you book.

Which ID do I need for a local golf rate?

It depends on the course, and most don't publish it. Ask the course which residency documents are accepted: a Quintana Roo INE, a temporary or permanent residency card, and a proof of address aren't always treated the same way.

How much is a round of golf in Playa del Carmen?

The official public green fees we checked in October 2026 for the 18-hole courses ran from about US$219 in the afternoon to US$299 in the morning. Puerto Aventuras charged MX$1,200 to MX$2,000 for 18 holes on its 9-hole course, and MX$600 for its par-3.

Do green fees include a cart?

Iberostar's rate sheet includes the cart, food and drinks. At Puerto Aventuras it depends on the rate you book. At other courses, ask when you book.

Are there golf memberships for residents?

Yes. Puerto Aventuras sells a Sports Club membership from MX$22,000 a year, which includes green fees when you reserve. Colibrí Property reports Gran Coyote memberships from US$5,000 (a 2-year trial) to US$21,000 (10 years), plus a monthly fee that covers green fees.
